Erika had previously won a historic bronze medal in the
Karate One Premier League held in Morocco.
The team also includes national team head coach Kushal
Shrestha and National Referee Commission member Tara Gurung.
Nepali karate star Erika Gurung will compete in the WKF
Karate One Premier League to be held in Istanbul, Turkey.
The Nepali karate team is leaving for Turkey, along with
historic medalist Erika Gurung, to compete in the WKF Karate One Premier
League.
The team also includes national team head coach Kushal
Shrestha and National Referee Commission member and international referee Tara
Gurung. The Nepali team will leave for Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday, according
to the Nepal Karate Federation.
The team was officially bid farewell by Dawa Gurung, Vice
President of the Nepal Olympic Committee and General Secretary of the Nepal
Karate Federation.
Nepal is once again set to make a strong presence in the
Karate One Premier League organized by the World Karate Federation (WKA).
Erica Gurung will compete in the women's 68 kg and above
weight category in the Karate One Premier League. Erica's participation in the
Karate One Premier League, which will feature top world-class athletes, is seen
as a very important opportunity for Nepali karate.
Karate player Erica Gurung, who won a historic silver
medal for Nepal at the 19th Asian Games, is currently one of the most
successful players in Nepali karate.
Earlier, she won a bronze medal in the WKF Karate One
Premier League held in Morocco and a gold medal in the World Karate One Series
A held in Malaysia.
Erica, who has been performing well, has been bringing
good results to Nepal in international competitions.
The head coach of the national team, Kushal Shrestha, who
will accompany Erica, is known as the coach who has won the most international
medals in Nepali karate to date. It is believed that Coach Shrestha's
experience, strategy and leadership will play an important role in Erica
Gurung's performance.
After playing the Karate One Premier League in Turkey,
the Nepali karate team will leave for the UK for the 9th Harlow Open
International Karate Championship and Seminar. Coach Kushal Shrestha informed
that Erica, along with Nelly Joshi and Prajwan Yamato Shrestha, will
participate in the competition to be held in the UK.
Meanwhile, Greek World Rank 3 player Genos is also
scheduled to give a special seminar in the UK. In addition, Tamu Dhi UK has
prepared a program to honor Erica Gurung.
Tara Gurung will play the role of international referee
in the competition to be held in the UK.
