Lisbon: A welcome and interaction program was held in Lisbon under the chief hospitality of Nirmala Sharma, Central President of the Nepal Journalists' Federation.
Organized by the Federation’s Europe Chapter, the event featured an extensive discussion and interaction on the topic, “The Role and Responsibilities of the Europe Chapter and the Central Committee in Nepali Journalism in Europe.”
Speaking at the program, President Sharma praised the contribution of journalists who have continued promoting Nepali journalism while living abroad. She urged journalists active in Europe to remain more organized, responsible, and professional in their work. Sharma also highlighted the important role of journalists in promoting Nepali language, culture, arts, and the voices of the Nepali community to the international audience through media platforms. She emphasized the need to prioritize credibility, impartiality, and professional ethics in journalism.
Participating journalists shared their views on the challenges and opportunities of Nepali journalism in Europe, as well as the importance of institutional cooperation. They stressed the need for stronger coordination and collaboration between the central committee and the Europe Chapter to make journalism in the diaspora more effective and impactful.
The program was chaired by Europe Chapter Vice President Basu Satyal. Deputy General Secretary Ramesh Raj Bastola delivered the welcome speech, while chapter member Muna Sunuwar hosted the event.
The program witnessed notable participation from Nepali journalists based in Portugal. Participants expressed their belief that such interaction programs help strengthen professional unity, cooperation, and the exchange of experiences among journalists living abroad.
