Portugal: The Sonam Lhochhar and a large cultural program organized by the Nepal National Tamang Ghedung Portugal have been completed in Portugal amidst a grand and emotional atmosphere. The program, organized with the aim of keeping their language, culture, costumes and identity alive despite their exile, saw significant participation from Nepalis, especially the Tamang community.

The program organized on the occasion of Sonam Lhochhar, the symbol of the New Year, felt the fragrance of the motherland spread even in a foreign land. The cultural dances, songs and traditional performances performed in the original costumes of the Tamang community made the program truly festive.
The program was held under the chief hospitality of Purna Hamal, the founding president of NRNA Portugal. In addition, the special hospitality was provided by Ram Babu Nepal, First Secretary of the Nepali Embassy in Portugal.

The program was also attended by a significant number of presidents and representatives of various social, literary and political organizations active in Portugal. Inaugurating the formal program collectively, the speakers emphasized the importance of such programs in preserving and promoting Nepali culture in the diaspora.
The main attraction of the cultural program was the passionate performance of the famous singer Urgen Dong, who was specially invited from Nepal. The audience danced to his popular songs. Similarly, the melodious and energetic performance of singer Ramla Pakhrin, who was invited from Nepal, also won the hearts of the audience.
The contribution of local artists in Portugal also made the program more meaningful. Singers Arjun Sunam, Kala Pangeni and others who are in Portugal entertained the audience by presenting the feelings and pain of the diaspora Nepalis through their performances.
The program, chaired by Iman Shing Tamang, President of Nepal National Tamang Ghedung Portugal, united the Tamang community in the diaspora and provided them with an opportunity to be proud of their own culture and identity, according to the participants. This cultural festival of Sonam Lhochhar clearly inspired people to stay connected to their roots and culture despite the busyness of life abroad. The program was held on February 8.
