Taylor Swift was named the world’s best-selling recording artist of 2025 by IFPI, the organization representing the international music industry. This marks the sixth consecutive time she has received the honor.
The award follows the massive success of her latest album, The Life of a Show Girl. According to Billboard, the album recorded the highest first-week sales of any album in the modern era. Billboard cited data from Luminate in its report.
IFPI stated that following the release of the album and her tour documentary The End of an Era, Swift achieved strong global engagement across streaming, physical, and digital formats.
She was first named IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year in 2014. She later won the title again in 2019 and then consecutively from 2022 to 2024.
In the past 10 years, Swift alone has now matched the total number of wins earned by all other artists combined. In its statement, IFPI noted that this achievement reflects her creative consistency and the long-term global strategy supporting her releases.
According to the organization, the award is calculated based on an artist’s or group’s worldwide sales across streaming, downloads, and physical music formats throughout the calendar year, covering their entire body of work.
For 2025,
Stray Kids placed second, while Drake ranked third.
